The Lagos State Government has advised motorists in the state to plan their movements as the Federal Government prepares to shut down the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway section of the Kara Bridge for repairs.

DAILY POST reports that the Federal Ministry of Works, at the weekend, announced the commencement of repair works on the bridge.

This followed the reported damage to a section of the popular and ever-busy bridge.

A statement issued on Monday by the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi, urged residents heading to Ibadan on Tuesday to consider an alternative route.

“We advise motorists traversing the corridor to plan their journeys ahead,” the commissioner said.

According to him, to minimise the impact of the shutdown on traffic, “one half of the affected section will be closed at a time, while motorists share the other open half interchangeably.

“The government appeals to all motorists to exercise patience and cooperate with traffic managers to ensure the rehabilitation is completed in two weeks as scheduled.”
