Former governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai is expected in the Federal High Court, Kaduna, today for the hearing of his bail application.

El-Rufai, who had been in detention for over a month, was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) before Justice Rilwan M. Aikawa on a 10-count charge, which includes alleged conversion and possession of public property, as well as money laundering.

The former governor was initially produced in court after an extended period in custody. The court had scheduled March 31, 2026, to hear pending applications, including El-Rufai’s bail request.

Recall that on March 27, 2026, the ICPC granted him temporary release on compassionate grounds following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, in Cairo, Egypt.

Court session is expected to resume today following the completion of her funeral.
