Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, has extended Easter greetings to Christians around the world, stating that Christians face persecution in several countries, including Nigeria, Syria and Lebanon.
In a message shared on his official Facebook page on Sunday, Netanyahu wished Christians in Israel, the United States and globally a “blessed and joyful Easter.”
He said Christians are “persecuted across the Middle East” and in other regions, naming Syria, Lebanon, Nigeria and Turkey among affected countries. He, however, maintained that Israel remains a place where the Christian community is protected and continues to grow.
Netanyahu also referenced the ongoing security situation in Israel, noting that the country remains under threat as missiles are fired toward Jerusalem.
He added that Israel, alongside the United States, continues to stand against Iran and its allied groups, while upholding freedom of worship for people of all faiths.
According to him, Israel remains committed to protecting lives, safeguarding liberty and ensuring that worshippers can practice their faith freely, even amid security challenges.
The Israeli leader concluded his message by expressing hope that the Easter season would bring renewal, hope and faith to Christians worldwide.
