The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Katsina State has condemned the recent bandit attacks affecting several communities, describing the killings of both security personnel and civilians as alarming and unacceptable.
The party’s state chairman, Lawal Tukur-Batagarawa, spoke to journalists in Katsina, expressing serious concern over the rise in violence.
He highlighted that the recent attacks, particularly in Matazu and Musawa local government areas, indicate a worsening security situation that requires urgent action.
According to Tukur-Batagarawa, the attacks resulted in multiple deaths, including police officers and residents, and led to the destruction of numerous homes and properties.
He also noted that the attacks occurred despite earlier peace agreements in some communities, questioning whether such arrangements are effective or sustainable.
Tukur-Batagarawa said the ongoing insecurity is due to what he described as “inadequate leadership and the inability of relevant authorities to provide sufficient protection for citizens.”
He added: “The primary responsibility of any government is the protection of lives and property, and this must not be compromised.”
The ADC extended its condolences to the families of the victims and the affected communities, stressing that the continued attacks have created fear and uncertainty among residents.
The party urged the government and security agencies to take stronger, proactive measures to address the security challenges and restore lasting peace across Katsina State.
