Troops of the 177 Guards Battalion stationed at the Toto Patrol Base have foiled an attempted abduction involving the family of a lawmaker in Yelwa village, Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The incident occurred around 11:00 pm on April 4, 2026, following reports of a kidnap attempt targeting Hon. Tanko Tukura and his family members.

The suspected kidnappers reportedly invaded the residence but were forced to retreat after a swift response by local vigilantes, even before the arrival of the troops.

Upon reaching the scene, the soldiers, working alongside the vigilante group, launched a follow-up patrol along the suspected escape route of the attackers.

However, no direct contact was made with the fleeing suspects.

Authorities confirmed that operations are ongoing to locate and apprehend those responsible, while additional security measures are being reinforced across the area to forestall future threats.
