11 killed, 12 injured in Kebbi road crash

At least 11 persons have died and 12 others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a fatal road accident along the Dakingari–Kamba road in Kebbi State.

Security sources said the accident occurred at about 10:00 p.m. on April 27 at a location known as Bakin Dutse.

The sources disclosed that the crash involved a Mitsubishi Canter vehicle driven by one Sanusi Aliyu of Kamba and a trailer with an unidentified registration number and driver.

According to the sources, the Canter vehicle, which was conveying goods and passengers from Aljannare market to Kamba, attempted to avoid a pothole, causing some passengers to fall off the vehicle.

The trailer, which was approaching from the opposite direction, reportedly ran over the victims.

As a result, one Nura Nuhu, 25, from Sokoto State, and 10 others died on the spot, while 12 persons, including Aliyu Suleman, 45, sustained serious injuries.

The injured victims were taken to the General Hospital, Kamba, for treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy.
