Arsenal played out a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.

The Gunners came into the game unbeaten in the competition and looking to pick up back-to-back wins for the first time in the month.

And it was Mikel Arteta’s men who led at the break, thanks to Viktor Gyokeres’ penalty late in the first half.

Gyokeres was fouled in the area, before picking himself up to lash the ball past Jan Oblak.

But Atletico were level 12 minutes after the break from the spot, after Ben White was punished for handball.

Julian Alvarez stepped up and smashed in the equalizer, to leave the tie delicately poised ahead of the second leg at the Emirates on Tuesday.
