Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma have arrested a suspected bandit, Ibrahim Adamu, during a snap checkpoint operation in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, recovering an AK-47 magazine, mobile phones, Indian hemp, and other items.
The development was contained in a post shared by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama via his X handle.
Security sources told Makama that the suspect was arrested at about 6:04 p.m. on May 8 by troops of the 2nd Battalion deployed at the Forward Operating Base, FOB, Dogon Dawa.
According to the sources, the troops mounted a snap roadblock in the Damari area of Birnin Gwari Local Government Area when they intercepted the suspect riding a motorcycle.
The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Ibrahim Adamu, was searched, during which troops recovered one AK-47 rifle magazine, three mobile phones, Indian hemp, and other personal belongings.
The sources further revealed that preliminary findings from the suspect’s mobile phones uncovered several incriminating photographs allegedly showing him dressed in military-style uniform and posing with a PKT machine gun alongside other suspected bandits.
Security officials said the suspect and recovered items had been handed over to the battalion headquarters for further investigation and necessary action.
Military authorities described the general security situation in the area as calm but unpredictable, noting that troops had intensified surveillance and patrols across the axis.
