Argentina captain, Lionel Messi, has revealed his expectations when his side faces Spain in the 2026 World Cup final on Sunday.
Messi led Argentina as they defeated England 2-0 in the semi-final on Wednesday to book a place in the final of the competition.
Speaking at his post-match interview after the game, the Inter Miami forward said he expects a very close encounter between Argentina and Spain in the World Cup final this weekend.
“They [Spain] are a tremendous team, with outstanding players. They play excellent football,” Messi said.
“I know the Spanish side well, and they have a style of play they have developed over many years.
“Several of the squad play for Barca, a club that means a great deal to me and that I still keep up with. It will be a special World Cup final, and obviously, I expect it to be very closely matched.”
