The naira recorded a slight depreciation against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market, beginning the week on a negative note on Monday.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN showed that the naira marginally weakened to N1,362.21 per dollar on Monday from N1,362.09 per dollar on Friday.

This means the naira depreciated by N0.12 against the dollar compared to the N1,362.09 recorded on Friday.

Meanwhile, at the black market, the naira remained unchanged at N1,410 per dollar on Monday, the same rate recorded at the close of last week.

This comes as the country’s external reserves stood at $52.01 billion, according to the latest data from the apex bank.

Recall that the naira recorded gains against the dollar in both the official and black markets three days ago.
