PRESS STATEMENT
The attention of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Plateau State Chapter, has been drawn to a publication titled
“PLATEAU APC: Why the Marriage Between the Legacy Group and the Governor’s Group is Failing” authored by:
Mr. Makut Alfred Mashat, ANIPR.
While every party member has the constitutional right to express opinions, it is important that such opinions are guided by facts rather than speculation, conjecture, and street gossip capable of creating unnecessary tension within our great party.
The APC in Plateau State wishes to categorically state that there is no crisis, no division, and no so-called failed marriage within the party. Those promoting such narratives are merely attempting to manufacture a crisis where none exists.
Chief Bature, the duly elected Chairman of the APC in Plateau State, remains firmly in charge of the affairs of the party.
Since assuming office, he has continued to provide purposeful, inclusive, and visionary leadership that has united members across all tendencies under one progressive family.
The admission of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and thousands of his supporters into the APC was not a merger of two political parties, nor was it the creation of parallel structures. It was the expansion and strengthening of the APC in line with the constitutional provisions of our great party.
Every member who joins the APC becomes anAPC member with equal rights and responsibilities.
The attempt to create imaginary camps such as “Legacy Group” and “Governor’s Group” serves no purpose other than to sow seeds of discord among party faithful. The APC recognizes only one structure—the All Progressives Congress under its duly constituted leadership.
Like every democratic political party across the world, primary elections naturally generate differing opinions and aspirations. Such disagreements are neither strange nor peculiar to the APC. They are part of the democratic process and are adequately addressed through the party’s constitutional mechanisms for reconciliation and internal dispute resolution.
To portray isolated grievances as evidence of institutional collapse is both misleading and intellectually dishonest.
Contrary to the impression created in the publication, the Plateau APC leadership has maintained constant engagement with stakeholders across the state and remains committed to strengthening internal cohesion ahead of future political engagements.
The APC today is stronger, more united, and more attractive than ever before. The continuous influx of respected political leaders, professionals, youth groups, women organizations, and grassroots supporters into the party is clear evidence that Plateau people have confidence in the leadership of Chief Rufus Bature and the progressive direction of the APC.
Those expecting the APC to implode will be disappointed. The broom remains united because every strand understands that our collective interest is greater than individual ambition.
We therefore urge party faithful to disregard alarmist narratives designed to distract the leadership and mislead the public. The focus of the APC remains on consolidation, reconciliation where necessary, grassroots mobilization, and strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Hon. Rufus does not govern by media exchanges or newspaper headlines. His leadership is defined by consultation, maturity, strategic engagement, and unwavering commitment to party unity. Silence should never be mistaken for weakness; true leadership is measured by results, and the results are evident in the unprecedented growth and stability of the APC in Plateau State.
The APC in Plateau State is one. Our symbol remains one broom. Our structure remains one.
Our leadership remains one. Everywhere you go across the state, there is only one APC under the capable leadership of Chief Rufus Bature.
No amount of speculation, propaganda, or politically motivated commentary can change this reality.
