The Northern Christian Elders Forum has called on Muslims across the country to join hands with Christians in promoting peace, unity, and national development.
The group made the appeal on Sunday, March 22, 2026, in Kaduna, during a stakeholders’ meeting focused on strengthening interfaith harmony in Northern Nigeria.
Speaking on behalf of the Forum, the chairman, Mr Ejoga Inalegwu, emphasized the need for both religious communities to set aside differences and work collectively to address insecurity and other challenges facing the region.
He noted that peace remains a “shared responsibility”, urging religious leaders to preach tolerance, understanding, and coexistence among their followers.
According to him, “unity between Christians and Muslims is critical to achieving lasting stability and development” especially in the North where communal tensions have, at times, threatened peaceful coexistence.
The Forum further called on government at all levels to support initiatives that promote dialogue and collaboration between faith based groups, insisting that only through joint efforts can sustainable peace be achieved.
