Personnel of the 177 Guards Battalion, operating from the Masaka Patrol Base, have successfully thwarted an attempted armed robbery in Mallam Nura Estate, located in the Angwan Tanko-Karu area of Karu Local Government Area in Nasarawa State.

According to security sources, the incident unfolded around 2:50 am on April 5, 2026, when troops on routine night patrol responded swiftly to a distress call reporting an ongoing robbery attack within the estate.

Upon arrival, the soldiers reportedly confronted the suspected robbers in a brief engagement, forcing them to abandon the operation and flee the scene.

Following the intervention, security operatives secured the area and maintained a visible presence across the estate to reassure residents and deter any further criminal activity.

Authorities also confirmed that efforts are underway to track down the fleeing suspects, while patrols have been intensified across vulnerable communities in the Karu axis to prevent similar incidents.
