EPL: Paul Scholes pinpoints mistakes Arsenal coach Arteta made against Man City

Manchester United legend, Paul Scholes, has pinpointed the mistakes Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta made against Manchester City during both sides’ Premier League encounter on Sunday.

Arteta watched as City defeated the Gunners 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium, thanks to goals from Ryan Cherki and Erling Haaland.

Speaking on The Good, The Bad & The Football podcast, Scholes said Arteta changed his tactic against Pep Guardiola’s side and also should have kept Eberechi Eze throughout the duration of the match.

“I think Arteta changed a little bit yesterday, and it’s not always easy to do that when you are going a certain way, playing a certain way. All of a sudden, he played quite an attacking team, a very attacking team,” Scholes said.

“It was exciting but you can’t just switch it on and off like that. To show a bit of intent, they should have brought Declan Rice or Martn Zubimendi off, just go for the goal.

“When you are looking at the game, you are thinking, ‘Eze’s playing well here, Eze is having a big influence on the game, and I would have thought the other players would be thinking, ‘That is a strange one’ (to take him off).”
