The newly constituted executive committee of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Cross River State has disclosed that it is fully prepared to hold its primaries to elect its flag bearers for next year’s general election.

The newly elected chairman of the party in the state, Dr. John Ogar, said the party still has time to sell nomination forms, calling on interested aspirants to hurry and approach the party secretariat.

He spoke in Calabar after the state congress, where the election of a 37-member executive committee was held through consensus.

He downplayed recent defections, saying only one of the new executives has left.

He criticized politicians who preach the need for opposition and unity but turn around to abandon coalitions.

According to him, the sincere and committed members of the party are still intact.

Ogar promised to take the party to greater heights, dismissing reports of party factionalization.

He insisted that the party is united.

He also maintained that the congress followed the party’s constitution, revealing that it was backed by a court judgment that affirmed the state executive’s authority to conduct congresses.
