Barau FC defender, Orji Kalu, believes his team put up a good fight to maintain their top-flight status.

The Maliya Boys finished the campaign in eight position – five points above relegation.

Orji said the target was to maintain the club’s status in the NPFL, which was achieved.

“We just have to fight to remain in the NPFL as we all know Barau FC is a club that just got promoted we just have to maintain that status,” Orji told totorinews.

Orji however expressed optimism ahead of the 2026-27 NPFL season.

“We will see how we can achieve more that avoiding relegation in the next campaign.”

Barau FC are in the quarter-final of the 2026 President Federation Cup after defeating Sunshine Stars U-19 in the Round of 16.
