Transfer: He played very poorly against Spain

Former Chelsea assistant coach, Jody Morris, has criticized the Blues’ transfer target, Maxence Lacroix.

Chelsea have reportedly agreed to pay a transfer fee of close to £52 million for Lacroix this summer transfer window.

The Crystal Palace defender is expected to sign a six-year contract with Xabi Alonso’s side.

However, Morris is not convinced that the France international will do well at Chelsea as he insisted that he played very poorly against Spain at the World Cup.

“I don’t think Lacroix played well for France [at the World Cup]. I told my friends I would love to see how he performs in a back-four system, as I have only seen him play in a back three,” Morris told Boyle Sports.

“He played very poorly against Spain, and I didn’t think he was great against England either—they conceded six goals in that game.

“If we really sign him, I hope he doesn’t always play like that.”
