Popular Nigerian content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, was captured in a viral video expressing shock over the legal implications of his statutory marriage to his lover, Amadou Elizabeth Aminata, better known as Jarvis.

DAILY POST reports that the duo legally tied the knot on Wednesday.

In a video making the rounds, the marriage registrar was heard explaining the legal implications of their vows to the couple.

“If any of you goes against the rule, he or she is guilty of an offence called bigamy. It is a punishable offence with a minimum of five years’ imprisonment, with no option of a fine.

“Should I proceed?” the registrar asked Peller and Jarvis.

Peller, however, raised objections, asking why a marriage born out of love should have anything to do with prison.

“This is marriage, love. What concerns love with imprisonment?” the popular content creator asked.
