Remove ‘Excellency’ from politicians’ names, they don’t earn it

The African Action Congress, AAC, presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has called for the removal of the title ‘Excellency’ when addressing Nigerian politicians.

Sowore stated this in a post on his verified X handle on Tuesday.

According to him, Nigerian politicians have not earned the title, stressing that there is nothing excellent about decades of corruption and poverty.

Recall that Sowore on Monday slammed Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi and other politicians who supported the removal of fuel subsidy, asking them to apologise to Nigerians.

He challenged them over their records in government, noting that he had remained consistent in opposing the removal of fuel subsidy.

“No Nigerian politician should ever again be addressed as His Excellency or Her Excellency. They don’t earn it.

“There is nothing excellent about decades of corruption, poverty, insecurity, darkness, broken hospitals, collapsing schools, and failed governance,” he said.
