French Ligue 1 club FC Lorient has officially announced the signing of Nosa Obaretin, an Italian-born centre-back of Nigerian heritage.

The 23-year-old player has joined Lorient on loan for the entire season from Napoli, with an option to make the deal permanent.

Obaretin, who started his career at AC Milan before moving to Napoli, advanced through the Italian youth ranks before making his senior debut.

The defender, born in Forlì, has spent the previous two seasons on loan at Bari and Empoli, where he made a total of 56 appearances in all competitions.

Lorient sporting director and former Arsenal captain Laurent Koscielny expressed his belief that the club offers an ideal setting for Nosa’s continued development.

“Nosa has outstanding qualities in duels, game reading, and ball usage. He still has considerable potential for growth, and we are confident that FC Lorient will provide the environment necessary for him to progress further,” Koscielny told the club’s official website.

“We are thrilled to welcome him and eagerly anticipate his contributions in our colors.”

For the 2026-27 season, Nosa will wear the number 55 jersey at Lorient.
