Over 270 dead, 1,403 including foreigners missing as deadly floods hit Nepal

No fewer than 270 persons have been confirmed dead while 1,403 others, including 341 foreign nationals, are currently unaccounted for as deadly flash floods hits cities in Nepal.

Nepalese officials confirmed the casualties in a statement issued on Wednesday while the rescue operation continues across the country.

DAILY POST reports that disturbing footage from the incident has been circulating on various social media platforms.

The floods submerged buildings in communities along the Nepal-China border and also swept away a bridge as captured in a viral video.

Experts are saying that a glacier avalanche was the likely trigger for the catastrophic flooding.

Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang is visiting the affected areas in Tibet, according to the state media.

Aljazeera reported that more than 500 people, including hundreds of foreigners, are currently missing in Tibet alone.
