TCN announces blackout in Kogi, gives reasons

The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, has announced a power supply disruption in parts of Kogi State on Tuesday.

TCN, in a statement on its X account on Monday, said the outage was due to maintenance at the 330/132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Substation.

According to TCN, the maintenance exercise is expected to take place on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The state-owned firm said the exercise would prevent the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, from supplying power to its customers in Adogo, Anyigba, Ganaja and adjoining areas in Kogi State.

“This exercise is necessary to enable the maintenance crew to work on the bay switchgear and associated equipment on the 132kV Ajaokuta Transmission Line 1,” TCN stated.
