WAFU B Champions League: Edo Queens edge Ampem Darkoa on penalties to clinch title

Edo Queens were crowned 2026 WAFU B Women’s Champions League winners following a 4-1 penalty shootout victory over Ghanaian champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies.

Both teams battled to a 2-2 draw in regulation time.

Ampem Darkoa struck as early as the second minute through Beline Nyarko, but Edo Queens responded almost immediately, with Doosuur Anastasia Atume restoring parity two minutes later.

Nyarko scored her second goal of the contest 16 minutes from time.

With defeat staring Edo Queens in the face, Oluebube Umejiaku delivered the equaliser deep into stoppage time, forcing the final into a penalty shootout.

Kennedy Boboye’s side converted all four of their penalties, while Ampem Darkoa scored once and missed twice, handing the Nigerian champions a 4-1 shootout victory.

The victory guarantees Edo Queens a place in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
