Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Martin Amaewhule, has won the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election and has been declared the party’s flag-bearer for the Obio/Akpor Federal Constituency.

Amaewhule is the current Speaker of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly.

He has been a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly since 2011, representing Obio-Akpor Constituency I.

He presides over the Assembly that attempted to impeach the governor of the state, Sim Fubara, on different occasions.

He is a diehard loyalist of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and is widely regarded as an ally of the former governor.
